What's wrong with twitter
trying to be 2.0 and not really "getting it"
I've attempted to follow some (not so) recent hypes like facebook and twitter. I should behave less like an old (internet) fart and accept new technologies and applications.
So I've been twittering for a while now. And here are some points I consider to be wrong with how twitter specifically works:
- it's centalized. In the long run, centralized systems don't work. Look at RSS, e-mail, web, all decentralized. Decentalizing offers more choice, more stability. more flexibility.
- It has no decent threading. Occasionally people reply to an earlier tweet and I don't actually know anymore what they're refering to.
- The hashtag system is insane, I can't believe people actually use it. But I bet I'm missing some point here.
- microblogging in 140 chars? sure. But why are url's, @repliednickname and hashtags counted as well?
Not that I think anyone cares about my 2 twitter cents, but the above is too long to tweet :)
