Usable colors if you have a dark background and tab shortcuts

Ciarán Walsh has provided some plugins / solutions for two Terminal.app annoyances:

  • Terminal.app looks horrible with ansi colors on a dark background (blue text becomes unreadable)
  • No sensible shortcuts to switch tabs (besides prev/next)

Ciarán provides two SIMBL plugins, one that implements -n shortcuts for switching tabs and one that provides "highlight colors" for dark backgrounds.

Both plugins also work nicely with Visor, which is also a Terminal.app must-have. It allows for a "Quake like" console to drop down which can of course multiple tab. I always have one running with an ipython shell running.

Finally, Martijn pointed me to "Living with Terminal.app" which may contain some usefull tips and tricks as well
