How to get it to print

Samsung SCX 4100 printer on MacOSX Leopard

Print & Fax

I bought a Samsung SCX 4100 multifunction printer (scanner, copier) two years ago back when I was still working on Linux. It had out of the box support for Linux (CUPS), it was very affordable and it provided most of what I needed back then.

Unfortunately, when I switched to Apple, I found out it wasn't supported at all. There was an ancient PPC CUPS driver that I managed to get working on MacOSX Tiger, but I wanted a cleaner way to use the printer on Leopard.

And that cleaner way is actually very simple. Just configure it as a "SCX-4500 series" and you'll be able to print. Of course, scanning still won't work, but I use the copy function the most anyway.
