First Rant!
Building forms == Rocketscience?
I recently applied for a savings account at "Aegon". They offer 4.25% and it's possible to deposit € 7.500,- this year which is a nice start. But for me it's very important to be able to do online banking, so after receiving my account information, I applied for internet banking access.
Unfortunately, whoever built their application form didn't do a very good job. I'm used to badly developed sites only working in Internet Explorer, but this site didn't even work there! After entering all required information and accepting some agreement, I was redirected back to the form with the remark to correct all fields marked in red. Of course, there weren't any fields marked in red.
The fact that the submitbutton was a broken image should have warned me I guess.
I did a tiny bit of research. The html code consists of css / javascript url's such as:
https://mijn.spaarbeleg.nl/img\/newdesign/faqFuncts.js
Notice the backslash in between. Perhaps it once worked in some ancient version of Internet Explorer, or with a different version of their web-/applicationserver
I've decided not to use their services (which simply means not depositing any money) - if this is an indication of the quality of their services and products, I'm probably in for alot more trouble...
UPDATE
After more than a week, AEGON has finally responded to my support request. They claim that probably the data I entered doesn't match what's registered in their system. This could be, but it doesn't justify their lame interface. They ask me to retry, and specifically check my gender (yeah, I always forget if I'm male or female), and if it still fails, to send a report specifying browser, os, ISP, and so on.
However, I'm not going to. Bye AEGON, it was nice not doing business with you.
