eye-fi: amazing digital camera gadget

No more cables/cardreaders!

Engadget has a review on the "eye fi" 2GB wifi SD card. At first I wondered what a 2GB WIFI SD card is supposed to be. I know of SD WIFI cards, I know of 2GB storage cards, but the combination didn't make sense.

Until you read the story. You can plug this card into virtually any camera that supports SD storage, and the card will transparantly copy the images you take to your computer or to your favorite photo site (i.e. Picasaweb). I'm mostly interested in transfering the pictures wireless to my Mac (which is supported!), I'd rather have some more control over which pictures make it to my Picasa albums :)

Unfortunately, the card is only for sale in the US, but I think dotPhoto will ship to Europe (at least their checkout procedure didn't stop me, although I didn't finish the entire procedure). The price is acceptable - $99.

So, I haven't ordered one yet - perhaps I should wait for some end user reviews first, it sounds like amazing technology, almost too amazing.
